MONMOUTH JUNCTION, N.J., Jan. 21, 2013 — Akela Laser Corp. has released its multiwavelength laser diode modules in wavelengths from 650 to 1950 nm. They operate at up to five wavelengths with an aiming beam from a single fiber. The footprint is designed around standard high-power thermoelectric coolers for convenient integration, and it incorporates an optional blast shield, fiber sensor/interlock, and the choice of a red or green aiming beam.
They are suitable for the OEM and R&D sectors. With powers up to 25 W in the 1.2- to 1.95-μm range, they enable medical and industrial customers to treat multiple conditions or combine wavelengths to make their outcomes more effective. This is helpful because many device manufacturers are moving to a platform or multiapplication approach with their laser systems.
The modules feature individually addressable emitters and offer power monitors for each wavelength; they are available with 100-, 200- and 400-μm 0.22-numerical-aperture fibers. The company can modify them to meet specific requirements.
