Coherent Inc. of Santa Clara, Calif., has acquired Innolight Innovative Laser and Systemtechnik GmbH and Midaz Lasers Ltd. to provide core technology for an emerging class of low-cost commercial subnanosecond pulsed lasers for microelectronics manufacturing. It paid $18 million for the privately owned Innolight of Hannover, Germany. The business will operate as part of Coherent’s existing German business unit.
