CHARLOTTE, N.C., Jan. 30, 2013 — UTC Aerospace Systems announces the next-generation Sensors Unlimited short-wavelength infrared 2048-pixel digital line-scan camera for spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT). The high-resolution InGaAs GL2048L-10A camera, when used at center wavelengths of 1.05, 1.31 or 1.55 μm, delivers A-line rates of >76,000 lines per second (lps), which is near the maximum for Base Camera Link interfaces.

With 10-μm pitch, it achieves high optical and spectral resolution. The pitch enables ophthalmic OCT instrumentation companies to adapt their current 0.84-μm SD-OCT spectrometers, which use the same pitch. The pixel height, or imaging aperture, is 210 μm, facilitating alignment for fiber optic-based spectrometers and delivering high sensitivity for machine vision applications.

The camera shrinks the depth needed behind the optical path, as its total thickness is 16.3 mm, enabling integration into spectrometers and lens-based imaging systems. Suited for high-line-rate applications, it supports rates down to 100 lps for inspection applications that require up to 10-ms integration times. Multiple pixel gain settings enable the user to trade off between the highest sensitivity and the best dynamic range, as applications require.

User commands include digital scaling, exposure, line rate and the ability to create nonuniformity corrections. External triggering and exposure control are also possible via the Camera Link cable.
