BERLIN, March 19, 2013 — Optris GmbH has introduced the optris PI NetBox, a miniature PC for the PI infrared camera series. It upgrades the optris PI products to stand-alone solutions or acts as a USB-to-Ethernet adapter, permitting longer distances between the camera and the PC.
It is particularly suited for high-temperature applications: Fitted with a cooling jacket, the camera can be installed local to the process and connected to the NetBox via a 20-m-long temperature-resistant USB cable. The NetBox is located outside the hot zone and acts as a connector for an Ethernet cable up to 100 m long.
Users can integrate their own software for customized optimization of process monitoring. The system is based on a COM-Express mini embedded board with Intel processor, 2 GB SSD and 512 MB RAM. Various ports are available, and the device supports a range of supply voltages between 8 and 48 VDC; it comes with a Windows XP Professional operating system. Power over Ethernet is also possible. The camera supports frame rates up to 120 Hz and is available with an IP65 enclosure.
