Chris Armacost, director of scientific sales at Daylight Solutions, died on Jan. 21 after a brief battle with cancer. “Chris has been an important and contributing member of the photonics community for many years, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him,” the company said in a statement. San Diego-based Daylight develops molecular detection and imaging systems based on quantum cascade laser mid-infrared technology for markets including medical diagnostics and commercial applications.
