The GP 16 S and GP 8 S small spindle drives from maxon motor are suitable for applications in high-temperature and magnetically inductive environments, as well as medical engineering.
The GP 16 S with ceramic spindle transmits up to 315 N in short-term operation; these axial forces are compensated by axial ball bearings in the gearhead’s output stage. The spindle drive offers a variety of reduction ratios in the integrated planetary gearhead, making it suitable for applications in focusing systems or valve and flap adjustment.
The 8-mm GP 8 S is available with metric steel spindles or ceramic spindles that can feed forces of up to 32 N in short-term operation, while two preloaded ball bearings serve as the axial bearing. This device achieves a high force:volume ratio suitable for applications in collimators and dosing pumps.
Ball screws made of zirconium dioxide, a high-performance ceramic, provide nearly negligible slip-stick effect, improved sliding characteristics and high wear-resistance. The life span of ceramic spindles is several times that of steel spindles.
