Macom to Acquire Optical Subassemblies Firm FiBest for $60M

M/A-COM Technology Solutions Holdings Inc. (Macom) will acquire Japanese optical subassembly supplier FiBest Ltd. in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $60 million. The acquisition will expand Macom's 100-, 200- and 400-Gb/s optical networking capabilities, as well as its data centers market. "The quality of the optical subassembly is a major factor in achieving the performance, power efficiency and cost targets necessary for 100-G in data centers — and becomes mission-critical at 200-G and 400-G data rates," said John Croteau, president and CEO of Macom....Read full article
