It's about that time.... the time when photonics industry players from all over the world come together for a week of learning, cool new products, new technologies, and fellowship. It's Photonics West 2016, and it's just around the corner! From February 13th to the 19th, San Francisco and its famed Moscone Center will be in a flurry of photonics.
The event last year saw over 21,000 attendees….. and 2016 looks to be just as big.
Photonics West invites companies and researchers to present their new and innovative work with things like state-of-the-art medical technologies, the Internet of Things, smart manufacturing, autonomous vehicles and miniaturization. This year, translational research and green photonics are among several focused sessions.
There are other specialized meetings within the conference, as well, including BiOS — which takes place on February 13th and 14th . This popular session highlights biomedical optics, diagnostics and therapeutics, biophotonics, neurophotonics and more.
LASE is another popular specialized session — this focuses on laser source engineering, semiconductor lasers, nonlinear optics and other such topics.
The conference features plenary talks and educational sessions, too, giving those in academia the chance to share their research and innovative work.
The large exhibition hall will be brimming with the latest advances and novel inventions by companies from all over the world. So be sure to make your way around that hall to see some of the coolest products in action.
And don’t forget the Prism Awards for Photonics Innovation on February 17th. Co-sponsored by SPIE and Photonics Media, this program honors photonics innovations from around the world. Learn all about this year’s finalists at photonics.com/prismawards.
