fDIODEA laser-diode-to-fiber coupler from Oz Optics Ltd. uses a tilt coupling technique to focus the beam onto the fiber core at the image plane of a lens system. The technique also reduces the light coupled back to the diode by placing the fiber off-center with respect to the lens axis, thereby inducing a nonzero angle of incidence between incoming rays and the lens axis. A special model of the device with an isolator attached to the diode has a typical coupling efficiency of 35% for fiber with a 9-µm core diameter. The couplers are available in wavelengths ranging from 670 to 1550 nm.
