Defense technology developer Elbit Systems Ltd. has received a $19 million contract from the Maldonado District Administration in Uruguay for a “safe district” project. The project will span across six municipal authorities, including the Punta Del Este resort, over a total of 2000 km2. More than 1,000 cameras and sensors will be included, such as vehicle traffic control at strategic standpoints. The collected information will be transferred to a control center with command and control systems with analytics capabilities. The sensor infrastrcucture will allow operators of the control room to obtain real-time data from the field and alert law enforcement officials of any hazardous events. Elbit is a technology developer engaged in defense, homeland security and commercial programs.
