The Silicon Eyeball II camera for laboratory use has been released by Data Optics Inc. The camera offers 800 x 600-pixel Super VGA resolution -- an improvement over the original Silicon Eyeball's 640 x 480-pixel resolution -- and features enhanced cross-platform support. The latest version plugs into the USB connector of Wintel PC and Macintosh computers and allows the image to be viewed in real time, with capture possible for later analysis and storage.
