Corning Inc. introduced a new undersea optical fiber optimized for unrepeatered (short-haul) submarine networks. Corning's Vascade L1000 fiber demonstrates 30 percent greater information-carrying capacity than standard single-mode fiber, enabling network designers to achieve lowest-cost-per-bit transmission in their short-haul undersea networks, the company said.
Adept Technology announced that it will feature the Adept SmartController series, a new family of high-performance distributed motion and vision controllers, at the Robot & Vision show (Booth # 313), June 5-7, in Rosemont, IL.
Veeco Instruments Inc., a provider of process equipment and metrology tools for the data storage, optical telecommunications, and semiconductor and research markets, announced that it has renamed its Industrial Measurement operation "NeXray LLC." The new name symbolizes the division's focus on the x-ray fluorescence market.
