Fibercore Acquires Fibertronix

SOUTHAMPTON, Hampshire, England, Sept. 1, 2014 — Fibercore has acquired Fibertronix of Hudiksvall, Sweden, for an undisclosed sum.

Fibertronix produces specialty fiber and hermetic carbon and high-temperature polyimide coatings for harsh environments, targeting the oil and gas and medical markets. Its technologies are developed at the research institute Acreo Swedish ICT.

Fibertronix’s fiber Bragg gratings and autoclavable coatings will be integrated with Fibercore’s multicore, single-mode and polarization-maintaining products.

As a part of the acquisition Dr. Saeed Rehman, Fibertronix’s senior vice president of business development, will take the same position at Fibercore.
