SpecTran Corp. of Sturbridge, Mass., plans to increase its capacity to manufacture optical fibers, cable and related products at its Avon, Conn.-based subsidiary, SpecTran Specialty Optics Co. The $9 million project will involve new fiber draw towers, specialty cabling lines and advanced assembly and test equipment. The company plans to begin operations at the expanded facility in the third quarter of 1997.
