  • ARM and SMIC Broaden IP Partnership for Mobile Applications
Feb 2014
CAMBRIDGE, England, and SHANGHAI, Feb. 10, 2014 — Semiconductor intellectual property provider ARM Ltd. and Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. (SMIC) have expanded their relationship to offer ARM’s Artisan physical IP platform for SMIC’s 28-nm poly SiON process. The collaboration’s purpose is to provide high-density, low-power technologies for system-on-chip (SoC) designs.

Under the agreement, ARM will provide a comprehensive physical IP platform for advanced process technology that supports a wide range of consumer applications targeting the smartphone, tablet, wireless and digital home markets.

ARM’s Artisan provides the building blocks to implement a range of performance- and area-optimized, low-power SoC designs. The silicon-proven IP platform offers a comprehensive set of memory compilers, standard cells and logic, and general-purpose interface products for mobile communications and computing.

The standard cell libraries and memory compilers incorporate multichannel features to enable a wide performance spectrum and to optimize the power range of SMIC’s PS process. These features ensure that power budgets for performance-critical SoC designs can be met.
