Helmet Integrates Night Vision Camera, Visor Projection

BAE Systems plc has introduced a new helmet-mounted display for fighter jet pilots that integrates a night-vision camera.

The Striker II also includes a hybrid opto-inertial tracking system that determines where the pilot is looking and projects information onto the visor accordingly.

The night vision camera, based on Intevac Photonics’ electron-bombarded active-pixel sensor, is mounted inside the helmet, eliminating the need for the pilot to use night vision goggles.
