Jenoptik Taps New Supervisory Board Members; Wierlacher Named Chairman

The Jenoptik AG supervisory board has elected Matthias Wierlacher as chairman. He succeeds Rudolf Humer, who stepped down June 30.

Meanwhile, the company added two new supervisory board members, Evert Dudok and Doreen Nowotne.

Matthias WierlacherWierlacher, 51, has been chairman of the executive board at Thüringer Aufbaubank since 2002 and a member of Jenoptik's supervisory board since 2012. From 2000 to 2001, he was a member of the executive board of Deutsche Effecten- und Wechsel-Beteiligungsgesellschaft AG (DEWB), a former Jenoptik majority holding. Prior to that, he held a range of leading positions at Bayerische Vereinsbank.

Thüringer Aufbaubank, via Thüringer Industriebeteiligungs GmbH & Co. KG, has an 11 percent indirect stake in Jenoptik and is thus its largest single shareholder.

Michael Ebenau remains supervisory board's vice chairman.

Evert DudokEvert Dudok has been executive vice president of communications, intelligence and security, and a member of the executive board at Airbus Defence & Space (Airbus DS GmbH) since 2014. A native of the Netherlands, Dudok obtained his electrical engineering degree from Eindhoven University of Technology. He has more than 30 years of experience in the aviation industry, starting his career at MBB, the predecessor of the EADS Group and today’s Airbus Group, where he held a range of positions in the Astrium space systems division. He was also CEO of Astrium Satellites and Astrium Services from 2007 to 2013.

Doreen NowotneDoreen Nowotne is an independent business consultant and has been a member of the supervisory board of Brenntag AG since 2010. She was a member of the board of management for VAT Vakuumventile AG from 2013 to 2014, a partner at BC Partners in Hamburg from 2002 to 2012, and has also worked at UBS Capital and Arthur Andersen LLP. Nowotne has a degree in business administration from the Dresden University of Applied Sciences.

Jenoptik operates in five divisions: Lasers & Material Processing, Optical Systems, Industrial Metrology, Traffic Solutions, and Defense & Civil Systems. It serves the semiconductor equipment, automotive and automotive supplier, medical technology, security and defense technology, and aviation industries. The company has about 3500 employees and generated revenue of approximately €590 million (about $644 million) in 2014.
