Harris Corp. was awarded a contract to supply the US Central Command (USCENTCOM) with activity sensors for its Persistent Surveillance Unattended Ground Sensor program. Harris will provide USCENTCOM's component commands and the Joint Special Operations Command with Silent Watch remote intrusion detection systems. The contract was awarded to Harris by Networld Exchange of Carlsbad, Calif., via its Open Market Corridor, a Web-based contract vehicle sponsored by the Department of Interior/National Business Center. Silent Watch uses the Falcon Watch RF-5405 Intelligent Gateway, a communications node that receives alarms from multiple sensors and fuses the data into actionable reports for satellite-based relay to command centers. . . . NanoPolaris Inc., a subsidiary of nanotechnology company Arrowhead Research Corp. of Pasadena, Calif., has assembled a portfolio of intellectual property (IP) to enable the manufacture of nanotube-based products. NanoPolaris has exclusively licensed US patents and patent applications covering technologies developed at California Institute of Technology; Duke University; The Pennsylvania State Universityv Rensselaer Polytechnic Institutev; Tsinghua University at Beijing; the University at Buffalo; the University of California, Los Angeles; and the University of Toronto. The company said it will license its IP to customers who will use nanotube technology in their products involving techniques such as chemical vapor deposition synthesis, plasma chemical vapor deposition synthesis, purification, solubilization, separation of certain types of tubes, coating, functionalization and manipulation.
