Bridgelux Adding Green Jobs in Calif.

LED lighting technologies and solutions manufacturer Bridgelux Inc. announced the dedication of its new headquarters in Livermore, and its plans for the addition of California-based green jobs as the market for energy-efficient LED lighting continues its rapid growth.

Joined by Congressman John Geramendi and Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren at the event, the company announced the addition of 50 California jobs since the start of 2010. Plans to add another 100 jobs in the new location are anticipated by the end of 2011. The new jobs will address research, development and manufacturing requirements, as well as other staffing needs.

The first US-based LED manufacturer in the past 20 years, the company and others like it may see a favorable climate in the future. Geramendi announced that Congress is considering “Make it in America” bills to help American companies like Bridgelux succeed in a global marketplace.

“If we advance a business climate favorable to the creation of quality green jobs — like those found at Bridgelux — we can bring back America’s middle class,” he said.
