The FTTH Council Middle East was officially created to help realize the high growth potential of fiber-to-the-home networks (FTTH) in the Middle East region.

Incubated since 2009 as an ad-hoc working party by the FTTH Council Europe, the Middle East group is now an independent organization and a fully-fledged council that can respond to the specific needs of its Middle East members.

The FTTH Council Middle East will work with the Asia-Pacific, Europe and North America councils to promote and accelerate the deployment of high-speed fiber-based access networks to consumers and businesses around the world.

The official launch of the FTTH Council Middle East took place at the FTTH Middle East Conference 2010 which was held on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 in Beirut, Lebanon.

The council consists of more than 150 member companies.

The FTTH Council Europe Middle East Group is an ad-hoc working group of the FTTH Council Europe. The Group is a working party of new Middle East-based and European Council members.
