ASD Expands Team to Aid Spectroscopy Solutions Market

To further expand its evolving spectroscopy solutions company, ASD Inc. announced the promotion of Michael Lands to vice president of marketing and sales, and added Chris Sherry as senior market manager.

Since 2005, Lands has served as ASD’s marketing and product management director. In his new role, he is responsible for sales and marketing strategy. He will also drive the implementation of ASD’s existing near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy solutions and its planned market growth strategy.

Lands also oversees ASD’s SummitCAL Solutions Team, which provides multivariate analysis and chemometrics services to its spectrometer customers.

Sherry, a certified professional geologist, will lead ASD’s mining industry market expansion efforts. He has an extensive geological background as well as experience in project management, marketing and sales direction.

ASD, known for its FieldSpec line of spectrometers for remote sensing, recently expanded its NIR spectroscopy analyzers into the mining exploration and production industries. The portable TerraSpec line of spectrometers speed site exploration with real-time, nondestructive mineral analysis, and provide high-throughput lab or field ore analysis.

ASD supplies analytical instrumentation and material analysis solutions for remote sensing, environmental sciences, agricultural, mining and pharmaceutical applications.

Glossary
near-infrared spectroscopy
Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) is a non-invasive analytical technique that uses the near-infrared region of the electromagnetic spectrum to study the absorption of light by molecules in a sample. This technique is commonly applied in fields such as chemistry, biology, medicine, and agriculture for qualitative and quantitative analysis of various substances. Key features and principles of near-infrared spectroscopy include: Near-infrared region: NIRS typically covers the spectral range...
remote sensing
Remote sensing is a method of data collection and observation where information about objects, areas, or phenomena on Earth's surface is gathered from a distance, typically using sensors onboard satellites, aircraft, drones, or other platforms. This technique enables the monitoring and analysis of Earth's surface and atmosphere without direct physical contact. Remote sensing systems capture electromagnetic radiation (such as visible light, infrared, microwave, or radio waves) reflected or...
