Magneto-Optic Crystals (CdMnTe, CdMnHgTe, TdGdG, etc.)
A magneto-optic crystal is a photonic crystal that is comprised of magneto-optical material such that the optical response of the device depends on the magnetization of the magneto-optical material. The magneto-optical effect can be enhanced by means of optical resonances.

TERMS
magneto-optical photonic crystal
A photonic crystal that comprises magneto-optical material such that the optical response of the device depends on the magnetization of the magneto-optical material. The magneto-optical effect can be enhanced by means of optical resonances.
magneto-optics
The study of the effects of a magnetic field on specific properties of light, such as polarization.
crystal
A solid with a structure that exhibits a basically symmetrical and geometrical arrangement. A crystal may already possess this structure, or it may acquire it through mechanical means. More than 50 chemical substances are important to the optical...
crystal optics
The study of the transmission of radiant energy through crystals, especially anisotropic crystals, and their effects on polarization.
resonance
A large amount of vibration in a system due to a small periodic stimulus that has about the same period as the natural vibration period of the system.
