White Chip-on-Board LED

Excelitas Technologies has introduced its newest model in the ACULED family of chip-on-board LED packages. It delivers the balanced combination of correlated color temperature (CCT), a high color rendering index (CRI), a high R9 value and the light output needed for medical applications such as surgical operating room lights, examination lights, and dental operatory lighting.

The new model contains four separately addressable LED chips to provide widely tunable CCTs from 3500 to 5500 K, while maintaining the high CRI, high R9 value and light output (luminous flux) required in the operating room. CRIs greater than 95 are achievable along, with R9 values of above 90. CRI is a quantitative measure of the ability of a light source to reproduce colors in comparison to a reference light source, evaluated on a 100-point scale. The R9 value indicates how well the light shows deep, saturated shades of red, a critical color in surgical applications.

Additional benefits of the new LED include good heat transfer from the chips to the substrate and heat sink, and its compact design with chips that are closely spaced, allowing for improved color mixing and compact optics.

The company offers a standard four-chip chip-on-board package (Model R3C6) that is supplied with warm-white, cool-white, red and cyan LED dice. Design-your-own chip combinations also are offered. All models are manufactured in the company’s ISO 9001-certified facility.
