AUBURN, Mass., March 16, 2015 — Physik Instrumente Q-MotionA new series of miniaturized, piezo-driven linear positioners from Physik Instrumente (PI) enable precision positioning and alignment of compact optomechanical components both in research and OEM instrumentation.

The Q-Motion positioning stages are 22 mm wide and come with travel ranges from 0.5 to 1 in. A self-clamping design allows the motors to hold position for long periods without power or the need for a brake.

Several options are available for the Q-522 stage series, including open- and closed-loop versions and high-end feedback sensors providing 1-nm resolution. Vacuum-compatible stages are also offered, and a non-magnetic option is in preparation.

Applications include photonics, biotechnology, nanotechnology, precision optics, life sciences and medical design.
