AUBURN, Mass., Nov. 4, 2015 — Piezo Steering MirrorsPI (Physik Instrumente) LP has announced the S-331 fast tip/tilt platform, a line of piezo steering mirrors with millisecond response and settling times.

With high dynamic linearity, the platforms are suitable for precision optics applications in ambient and vacuum environments. The steering mirror platforms provide precise motion of the top platform around two orthogonal axes.

A single pivot-point design prevents the drawback of polarization rotation, which is common with conventional two-axis stacked systems. Designed for compact mirrors up to ½ in. in diameter, the platforms feature a tip/tilt angle up to 5 mrad and an optical deflection angle of up to 10 mrad.

Applications include image processing, image stabilization, laser beam steering, microscopy, materials processing, lithography, optical filters and optical switches.
