NOCTURN Extreme Low Light CMOS Camera

The NOCTURN CMOS-based camera from PHOTONIS provides unmatched low-light digital imaging, with sensitivity of <4e- read noise in a full 100 fps SXGA (1280x1024) resolution. NOCTURN cameras operate equally well in full daylight and in starlight (10 mlx) conditions. Large 9.7µm2 pixels maximize photon collection, providing quantum efficiency >80% at peak. Additionally, NOCTURN provides excellent spectral response from 400 to 1100nm (NIR). PHOTONIS also provides on-board electronic controls for automatic gain, image correction and image enhancement depending on the model chosen.

PHOTONIS’ long history of innovative night vision photon detection brings a unique innovation to enhancing digital imaging in low light conditions. Unlike traditional photon detectors which only work well in low light conditions, NOCTURN CMOS cameras are specifically designed for operation in bright daylight as well as low light. Digital camera technology minimizes the effects of sudden light bursts and eliminates the possibility of equipment damage, providing a robust and versatile video solution.

The small size of NOCTURN low light CMOS cameras make them ideal for static surveillance situations, or for UAV, vehicle, soldier or hand-held mobile video imagery to support overall situational awareness. Standard video and communication plug-and-play interfaces allow these cameras to connect to computers, wireless transmit devices or to LANs for continual C4ISR assessment across most lighting conditions.
