Photonics MarketplaceFor over half a century, L-3 Communications Applied Optics Center has produced highly complex thin film coatings and optical assemblies for a wide range of military and commercial markets worldwide. We remain one of the largest manufacturers of laser protection filters and related assemblies for the U.S. Army. We offer a broad range of optical assembly capabilities (including precision optical component fabrication, and glass-to-glass and glass-to-metal bonding), and rapid component/subassembly prototyping.

Our turnkey manufacturing capability allows us to integrate our thin-film coatings into a variety of complex, high-order optical assemblies manufactured to precise Customer specifications. For example, our Melios laser range finder, which we’ve manufactured in high volume, is a testament to our broad skill set. The Applied Optics Center fabricated each of the eight optical elements in the finished assembly, coated these elements with unique optical coatings, and bonded and tested each assembly.

Our commitment to excellence is evidenced by our remarkable track record: Over 500,000 optical assemblies and laser protection filters have been delivered to Customers around the world without a single failure or return.
