Bristol Instruments Hires Metrology Group Director

Oct 2013VICTOR, N.Y., Oct. 15, 2013 — Optical interferometer-based instrumentation maker Bristol Instruments Inc. has hired Todd Blalock as director of its new Optical Metrology Products group, the company announced recently.

Blalock has more than 20 years of experience in optics and a successful record of product development and technology leadership, Bristol said, having founded Quasar Photonics and served as its president. He has also served as chief technology officer of Lumetrics and held positions at ASE Optics and the University of Rochester's Laboratory for Laser Energetics.

"Mr. Blalock is an important addition to our company," said Dr. Brian Samoriski, Bristol Instruments’ president. "His experience will help expand the market opportunities for our proven optical interferometer-based product platform."

Blalock has authored or co-authored a number of patents related to optical measurement and interferometry. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Optical Engineering from the Institute of Optics at the University of Rochester.
