Canon 3D Machine Vision for Random Parts Picking
The RV-Series is designed to work with Robotic arm systems as an Eye to Capture image of target parts and let robotic system know how to approach and pick up by most reliable position to safely carry and place at commanded position. With one of Canon's core technologies, its fast image recognition will bring fast and most efficient Production and shorten the time to market.
Through cutting-edge image-recognition, data-processing and optical technologies, these eyes are capable of the three-dimensional recognition of production-line parts randomly assembled in a pile on a pallet. The data required for the picking process is transmitted to the robotic arm’s controller unit. The ability to accurately recognize various parts, from those with complex shapes to those with few distinguishing features, facilitates the automation and acceleration of parts-provision processes, contributing to improved productivity while reducing production costs.
The Canon systems feature a 3D machine vision head, which encompasses the system sensor and 3D machine vision recognition software, responsible for recognition processing. The high-speed, high-accuracy three-dimensional object recognition capabilities of the new machine vision system were made possible by applying innovative image-recognition and information-processing technologies, cultivated through Canon’s research and development of cameras and business machines.
Users can easily register data for parts to be picked up by inputting CAD data and by capturing images of the parts randomly assembled in a pile. Since no complicated programming is necessary, users can easily re-register parts in accordance with changes in type and shape of parts to be supplied in production.
