Have you ever needed a waveplate on a lens or in the middle of a cemented doublet? Retarder Applied Polymer (RAPtor) retarders are fabricated using a proprietary high birefringent polymer and are typically less than 10 µm thick. This material can be provided on very thin substrates as well as most customer-supplied substrates up to 100mm or more in diameter. Because of the very thin profile, this material provides little to no added wavefront error to your optical system. The transmission is typically >90% from visible through NIR wavelengths and >80% out to 3.3 µm.
