For use by design and test engineers to make dynamic measurements,
National Instruments has introduced a PCI version of its PXI-5922 flexible-resolution digitizer, also called a PC-based oscilloscope. The device uses a proprietary Flex II analog-to-digital converter that provides user-defined resolution and that can sample from 24 bits at 500 kS/s to 16 bits at 15 MS/s. Incorporated patented techniques reduce harmonics caused by the nonlinearity that is inherent to multibit converters. This results in a high dynamic range, even at high sample rates, which can be used to directly digitize low-level signals without the need for external signal conditioning. Applications include audio and ultrasound testing, characterization of high-resolution digital-to-analog converters and baseband I/Q analysis. The digitizers can be used with arbitrary waveform generators and digital waveform generator/analyzers to build mixed-signal applications at any stage in a product’s development.
