Analog Devices Inc. has released a white LED driver for a camera phone’s flash function. The ADP1653 uses a portable power management technique to maintain picture quality when the battery is being taxed by other functions. The company says that the driver produces a brighter flash, providing better pictures in low light. The LED uses a dual-mode interface that can support an I
2C interface or 2-bit logic bus, so that designers can program the LED strings independently in hardware, with external resistors, or in software, by writing data to the device’s registers.
