eye test apparatus - Instruments used by ophthalmologists and optometrists to study the eye. There are, for instance, the ophthalmoscope to observe and photograph the retina; the retinoscope and optometer to determine the refractive errors of the eye; the ophthalmometer (keratometer) to measure the radius of curvature of the cornea; the slit lamp and corneal microscope to examine the cornea itself; the perimeter (campimeter) to plot out blind areas on the retina; and various forms of stereoscopes used extensively to study vision and to exercise the eye muscles.
