We specialize in design, development, and manufacture of high-performance image sensors for defense, security and surveillance, space, scientific; medical, dental, veterinary x-ray; industrial, and pro-video markets.

Manufacturer of mid-IR lasers, sensors, and imaging systems for mid-IR applications including molecular spectroscopy, life sciences, remote sensing, process control, and defense and security. Laser performance spans 3 to 13 microns, with options for pulsed, CW, broadly tunable, narrow linewidth, rapid-scan, and high power output.

Manufactures a wide range of IR sources or lamps primarily for the OEM market. Products include pulsable sources utilizing tungsten and Nichrome (NiCr) and steady-state sources utilizing Kanthal and NiCr filaments. All are constructed in industry standard TO-39, TO-8, and TO-3 size packages with gold-plated parabolic reflectors.

Manufacturer of free-space and fiber-coupled lasers with diffraction limited performance. Lasers from 350 to 2000 nm have accessories for expanding or focusing the beam, fiber collimators, fiber focusers, tiny collimators and splitters to integrate with the pigtailed lasers. Custom assemblies for OEM users are routinely made.

Standard and custom photodetectors and high-quality VIS and IR LEDs. Our advanced performance sensors operate from the extreme ultraviolet (UV) to the mid-infrared (mid-IR). Photodetectors provide high-energy particle, electron, x-ray, and UV detection; plus excellent mid-IR sensitivity to discriminate gases, detect heat, sparks, and flames.

Founded in 1957, RMI designs and manufactures precision optics and coatings. Our technical expertise include laser optics from DUV to Far IR; IR optics including high output diamond turning; and custom optical assemblies.
