BioPrecision2ex extended travel stages from Ludl Electronic Products Ltd. offer users the ability to scan large areas or multiple slides in a package that is compatible with many conventional microscopes. Model 99S109, which enables mounting five slides to the holder, has a travel range of 150 × 100 mm, speed of 60 mm/s, and straightness and flatness of 1 μm/25 mm. Model 99S121, with a capacity for up to eight slides, has a travel range of 250 × 100 mm. Both devices are lightweight and feature low-profile leadscrew housings, stepper motor drives, cross-roller antimigration guide bearings and options for rotary or linear encoders. The oversize specimen insert platform allows the free use of high-magnification objective lenses without interference. A typical system includes a MAC 5000 controller, a stage, a specimen holder and an adapter ring.
