NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I., July 8, 2013 — The Leica Absolute Tracker AT402 from Hexagon Metrology is a portable 3-D laser tracking system suitable for large-volume, precision measurement applications in the aerospace, power generation, heavy equipment, and large components and assemblies manufacturing industries.

The next-generation device features a simplified user interface with four predefined measurement profiles that adjust the instrument settings to any measurement condition with the click of a button. Its standard mode is streamlined for daily operation, enabling users to easily change settings for outdoor measurement jobs and for applications requiring speed or accuracy. Other usability features include IR remote control, environmental monitoring, level to gravity, IP54 rating and WiFi connection.

With a full 8 hours of battery life, the tracker’s hot swap batteries enable the operator to install fresh batteries without powering down the system, keeping user productivity high.

The device comes standard with the Leica PowerLock technology, which automatically finds and locks onto any moving reflector within a field of view of 1 sq m at a 5-m distance. It also can measure a full 360º horizon and a 290º vertical dome, resulting in more than twice the measuring volume of conventional trackers, including the ability to measure straight up.
