Terahertz Technologies Inc. has unveiled a fiber optic probe for lab and field use. The TIA-950i mounts on the BNC input of an oscilloscope and reproduces the optical signal from the oscilloscope screen. It runs on a 9-V lithium battery and can detect 900- to 1700-nm wavelengths. It has a gain selection switch and a peak response value of about 1200 to 12,000 V/W. Applications include checking the output of a telecommunications or data link, the operation of a laser source and the signal from an optical transmitter.
