Edmund Industrial Optics has released the Eyebot automatic inspector for machine vision systems. It features both an operational mode that looks for the appearance and disappearance of shapes, and a mode that learns and inspects more than 100,000 colors. The system can be trained for object recognition and inspection. Applications include inspection of ball grid arrays for improper placement and missing or double balls in semiconductor manufacturing; verification of pill color or shape in pharmaceuticals; and detection of color differences and blemishes in food processing.
