Santec Tunable FilterFor testing optical communication signals with speeds of 400 Gb/s or more, Santec Corp. offers a programmable optical tunable filter.

The OTF-980 combines wide C and L band tunability with bandwidth tuning. It features a two-fold improvement in filter slope over the previous model. Built with novel, free-space custom optics and an ultrafine tuning mechanism, the device enables precise filter control and a flat-top passband shape.

Two types are available. The Ultrafine type has 0.08- to 4-nm adjustable bandwidth with a filter slope of 500 dB/nm, and the Ultrafine-Plus type has 0.03- to 3-nm bandwidth tuning with a 1000 dB/nm filter slope. The devices can be controlled manually by a built-in touchscreen panel or automated via GPIB, Ethernet and USB interfaces.

Applications include channel selection and dense wavelength division multiplexing channel filtering, amplified spontaneous emission noise filtering, and transmission testing.
