SMART CAMERAS Matrox Imaging has announced that its Iris P series programmable smart cameras are now available in remote head configurations. The two-piece design uses MDR26 connectors and a standard Camera Link cable to connect a remote head to a processor unit. The cameras are powered by ultralow-power Celeron, an embedded Intel architecture processor that runs the Windows CE.NET real-time operating system and is programmed via Microsoft eMbedded Visual C++. OEMs and integrators can develop their applications with the Matrox Imaging Library toolbox for image processing and run them directly on the cameras. Hardware for image sensing and a software API for image analysis are incorporated.
