ASD Inc.’s FieldSpec HandHeld 2 portable spectroradiometer
is suitable for researching crops and soil; forestry, ecology and plant physiology;
and oceanography and inland water bodies. The compact remote sensing device uses
near-IR spectroscopy to make noncontact, nondestructive, laboratory-grade materials
measurements. Self-contained data collection with significant spectrum storage capacity
and an onboard color display facilitate more efficient field work by eliminating
the need for continuous computer connection. Using proprietary technology, the spectroradiometer
produces reflectance, radiance and irradiance spectra with a high signal-to-noise
ratio in <1 s via a high-sensitivity detector array with a low stray-light grating,
a built-in shutter and second-order filtering.
