PI C-887.52PI (Physik Instrumente) LP has announced a new hexapod controller for parallel-kinematics precision positioners.

The compact, benchtop C-887.52 system offers a real-time operating system, six-axis vector motion control, a comprehensive high-level command set and optional collision avoidance software.

The user enters commands in Cartesian coordinates, and the controller turns them into vectorized motion. The built-in macro command language simplifies programming of repetitive tasks and also makes standalone operation possible, as does the optional manual control unit.

High path accuracy and dynamic performance are enabled by fast servo update rates (10 kHz) and error compensation. The user can also specify the center of rotation with a single command.

A data recorder captures velocity, position and position error information. In addition to controlling the six parallel kinematics axes of the hexapod, outputs for two more servo motors are included.

Communication is via USB and TCP/IP, digital and analog input/output.
