Schneider Optics has introduced compact 2/3-in. C-mount video lenses for use with 1/3-, 1/2- and 2/3-in. image formats. The lenses have been optically corrected for imaging in the visible and near-infrared range from 400 to 1000 nm and can be used within the spectral sensitivity range of CCD sensors and for image processing applications that use artificial light. The company says they enable the infrared cutoff filter to be removed from some CCD cameras, allowing more energy and irradiance to reach the sensor and increasing the video signal level. Depending on the light source, the gain in energy can be up to two f stops. The lenses are available in five models: Cenegon 1.4/8 and 1.4/12 mm, and Xenoplan 1.4/17, 1.4/23 and 1./35 mm. The company says they are robust enough to withstand the harshest environments.
