Aremco Products Inc. has developed Ceramabond 618, a high-temperature, silica-based ceramic adhesive for bonding low-expansion ceramics, glasses and quartz. It is used in the assembly of infrared heaters and instruments such as temperature probes and strain gauges. The adhesive provides temperature resistance to 1850 °F, a dielectric strength of 250 V per mil and a volume resistivity of 109 (omega)-cm at room temperature. Ceramabond 618 offers resistance to oxidation and most acids and alkalis. It is dispensed by brush or syringe and cures in one to two hours at 700 °F.
