A microscope stage from Applied Scientific Instrumentation (ASI) provides submicron accuracy for the X, Y and Z positions. All axes of the MS2000 X-Y-Z use closed-loop direct-current servomotors with either high-resolution linear or rotary encoders for feedback. The company says the device achieves resolutions down to 20 nm in the X-Y axes and 50 nm in the Z-axis, with virtually no focus drift.
