The ProWatcherpulse system from Armstrong Optical Ltd. monitors spot welding in real time and integrates noninvasively with most Nd:YAG laser systems. It also monitors the plasma plume generated by the welding process and analyzes its overall intensity and temporal decay characteristics. This allows automatic assessment of parameters such as laser power delivered to the weld and component variation. The system rejects faulty components and alerts the user if a weld does not comply with specifications. The data can be assessed over time to show overall system variance.
