The Raman Systems R-2001 provides detailed spectral analysis of gels, powders, aqueous solutions, coatings and surface media. This integrated second-generation system from Ocean Optics Inc. consists of a diode laser, a CCD-array spectrometer, an analog-to-digital converter and software. The company says the R-2001 offers better resolution (~15 cm-1) and an order-of-magnitude increase in sensitivity. Among the fiber optic probe options is a 3/8-in.-outside-diameter stainless steel version. Applications include medical diagnostics, wastewater analysis, dissolution testing, thin-film surface characterization, and chemical and petrochemical processing.
