Trumpf Laser Technology Center is offering a programmable focusing optic (PFO) that uses a series of galvo mirrors to focus the laser beam onto a defined location of the working area. It can be used with an integrated pulsed or continuous-wave laser to weld parts without moving the focusing optics or the workpiece, eliminating the need for linear axes and additional controls. The company says the device is equipped with a vision system that constantly maintains an exact welding position.
Up to four programmable focusing optic units can be operated simultaneously or in succession with one laser.
