Dymax Corp. has released a line of adhesives for fiber optic assembly, including fixturing and positioning adhesives, adhesives with refractive indices from 1.42 to 1.58 for use in the optical pathway, and adhesives with shrinkage as low as 0.1%. These low-shrink adhesives, formulated to cure in seconds upon exposure to UV or visible blue light, offer moisture resistance, and low total movement and outgassing. They adhere to a variety of substrates and are suitable for applications including fiber optic V-groove bonding, laser diode positioning, fiber pigtailing, transceiver potting, active device and passive coupler mounting, and optical device assembly.
