The LC-9.5 from Del-Tron Precision Inc. is an automated positioning stage and motor that can fit into a 10 x 40 x 10-mm envelope. It provides a straight-line accuracy of 0.0005 in. per inch of travel and repeatability of 0.0001 in. The device has a lightweight aluminum base and carriage with two rows of ceramic ball bearings separated by a stainless steel retainer. The 1/32-in. balls roll between two steel raceways on either side of the retainer. The LC-9.5 is suitable for intermittent positioning of fiber optic components, robotic sampling, adhesive deposition, and positioning of lenses and other optical devices.
